The activities of Kasthoorba Gandhi Memorial Women's charitable Society(Q677/96) which is started in 1996 at Kollam according to the charitable Societies Registration act is now all over the state. Mrs K.Amminikutty who is a social activist is the president and Ms. Sangeetha Madhu, an MBA holder, is the secretary of the society.About 50 women are members of the society.
The primary aim of the society is women empowerment.It is the aim of the society to give Vocational training to women,organizing awareness programs, helping the disadvantaged sections of the society, conducting health related activites with the help of state-central Govt,conducting environment protection programs etc.
The society has undertaken drinking water projects in Chadayamangalam Panchayath in Kollam district and Panchikkadu Panchayath in Kottayam district. We conducted training for 30 Anganwadi workers with the financial assistance from National Museum, Govt. of India, New Delhi. We conducted awareness programme to women in various Panchayath in Kollam district with the assistance of Central Social Welfare Board, New Delhi.
